Dear Tampa Prep,

I want to thank you all for giving our family the opportunity to be a part of the Tampa Prep community for the past nine school years. When Kevin Plummer and I met for lunch in Philadelphia nine years ago, I had never been to Tampa and knew close to nothing about Tampa Prep. As Kevin can do like nobody else, he provided a vision for a school that I wanted to join. I came to interview at Tampa Prep and instantly fell in love with the school.

The people I get to work with every day are among the most amazing educators anywhere in the world. They possess a fierce commitment to meeting every student where they are and to developing students who live the mission of the school. The capacity of the faculty, staff and administration to constantly innovate and pursue what is best for students is unlike any other school. It has been an incredible professional experience to play a role in helping to build this culture, to help bring so many amazing programs to life, and to work closely with so many talented people.

My family took a leap of faith and hopped on board our adventure departing a traditional New England boarding school and arriving at Florida’s most innovative school. It has been a gift to share Tampa Prep with all three of our boys and to have each of them receive a Prep education. I am proud that all three will be Terrapins for life! With our youngest on track to graduate in May, (don’t mess it up Zach!), this is a perfect time for Alison and me to begin another adventure.

I am excited to take the helm at The Walker School in Marietta, Georgia beginning on July 1. My experiences at Tampa Prep have prepared me well for this incredible opportunity, and their community will benefit from all that I have learned at Prep. For the remainder of this school year, I look forward to continuing my relationships with the faculty, administration, trustees, staff and parents. Most of all, I am so happy to have another seven months with the students at Prep, and it is incredibly special to me that I will get to graduate with the class of 2022. We still have a lot of work to do this year, and I will enjoy every day we have together as Terrapins, Go Red! Go Gold!

Sincerely,
Carl C. Carlson
