Tampa Prep seniors Max and Myka Wenzel were recently announced as recipients of YMKG (Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla) Community Fund Scholarships!

Over the past 25 years, the YMKG Community Fund has awarded over $1.1 million in college scholarships to students in Hillsborough County.  This year, 94 nominations were submitted from 23 schools across Hillsborough County.  Consideration for the scholarships included:

Minimum non-weighted 3.0 GPA and participation in sports, school activities and in the community.

14 semi-finalists were chosen to be interviewed, from which a total of nine high school seniors were chosen to receive scholarships.  Two of the scholarship recipients are Tampa Prep Terrapins Max & Myka!

Max made his case with an unweighted 4.0 GPA (4.80 weighted), involvement with Varsity Soccer and Varsity Bowling, a member of Future Business Leaders of America, Student Council, Yearbook Editor in Chief, Best Buddies and Peer Counselor!  Max plans to attend Georgetown University in the Fall.

Meanwhile, Myka has an unweighted 4.0 GPA (4.74 weighted), while being involved with Varsity Girls' Soccer, Varsity Bowling and JV Volleyball, as well as a Student Council member, Peer Counselor, Key Club and Conduct Review Board.  Myka plans to attend the University of Georgia in the Fall.
