Freshmen continue with their Transitions Course by focusing on GOALS. Faculty and students talked about the importance of goal-setting, and students were asked to interview a parent about how s/he sets goals in her/his life. Additional discussion involved the importance of planning in helping them meet their own goals, how they can manage multiple responsibilities and how they can motivate themselves to work toward meeting their goals.
In the freshman class assembly, students heard from four Tampa Prep alumni who spoke about how they set goals in their own lives and how Tampa Prep influenced their journey to becoming who they are today. The alumni panel of

was incredibly candid in sharing their goal-setting habits, their achievements, and their "fail" moments along the way. We thank the parents and alumni for their help on last week's lesson.
This week, freshmen have turned their attention to reviewing some basics about health and wellness. They reviewed the many types of mindfulness practice (which included a parent interview for homework) and they began to talk about healthy habits--including having adequate sleep, focusing on nutrition, and the importance of exercise for mental health. They will end the week with a fun game to test their knowledge about sleep.
