For almost 30 years, Tampa Prep has developed a great relationship with Gymnasium Hochrad, an English immersion public school located in Hamburg, Germany. Every other year, middle and upper school students from Hochrad visit Tampa Prep, stay with Tampa Prep families, and in recent years, bring the ever-popular   Sunshine Band  to collaborate with our chorus and band in an open concert for our community.

This year's troupe stayed for the week with Tampa Prep host families and played a concert during assembly this week. When not rehearsing with our own Band or Chorus, they shadowed classes with their host student. Hochrad students are fluent in English, were well behaved, and eager to live the Tampa Prep experience. We were so pleased to welcome them once again.

Huge thank-yous go to Chorus Director Andrew Hoy and Band Director Jessica Calandra who have asked their students to learn new material so that they can perform alongside their   German  peers for Wednesday's school-wide concert. Sound Engineer Chris Hughes worked his amazing tech skills to ensure the performance went as planned. Digital Production teacher Rajesh Barnabas and his students helped to live stream the event so   German  families could watch along with us. Thanks to all the teachers who hosted extra students in their classes. Finally, a HUGE thank you to the always globally-committed Laura Pereira, who organizes their itinerary and places several dozen   German  students with our own. This event could not take place without her efforts.
